Why “Revision Mentor”?

The NHS estimates that up to 1 in every 10 people in the UK have some degree of undiagnosed dyslexia causing problems with spelling, memory, sequence, planning and organisation.  Because of the way we are taught in UK schools, these difficulties tend not to be spotted until later on in life – if ever.  As a result, there are many people who declare they “don’t do well in exams” yet have no real understanding as to why.

Everybody can excel

At Revision Mentor, we believe that with the right advice and guidance, and knowledge of the methods that work for them, everybody can excel and achieve success.  Poor exam performance is merely an indication that the methods they are using do not complement their learning style.

That is why we have established Revision Mentor.

What is a Revision Mentor?

We don’t teach subjects. We don’t educate you in science or maths – that is not what we are here for.

We teach you how to learn.

We help you overcome any blockers you have towards revising and we teach you different techniques that enable you to get the most from your studies.

We will work at your pace, not ours, and we will listen to and address any concerns you may have. We offer advice, guidance and support to you – without any judgement or prejudice.

At Revision Mentor, we will introduce you to MindMapping as a core revision technique and make sure that you can apply it to a wide variety of subjects. We will progress to remove your specific blockers – be they around your organisation and planning, improving your memory, or actually doing the revision itself.

Because we are not teachers and we are not your parents, you can tell us exactly how you feel about your exams or studies without judgement and we will help you keep focus and maintain interest.

We will walk alongside and support you on you journey to exam and professional success.

As the exams approach, we will continue to work with you so that your memory and recall, even under the pressure of an exam, will be easier than you have ever known.  We will be a trusted advisor and guide who will help you with any exam nerves you may have and be there for you throughout as a neutral, trusted advisor and supporter.

What do we help with?

At Revision Mentor we will not rely upon algorithms or AI. We will work directly with a student to assess what their key issues are, how they learn best and to derive a plan tailored to their need to address those issues.

We will help a student:

  • Understand their learning style
  • Plan and organise their revision
  • Get into the books and make revision more interesting
  • Manage the key information
  • Develop exam-confidence
  • Reduce exam related stress
  • Improve focus and subject engagement
  • Memorise information and enhance their recall under pressure
